Disclaimer: we at the xxxx-in-1 project cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your system. Modifications to the hardware will void the systems 30 day warranty.
This modification will let higher memory / processor powered games to run at their true speed and fix games that were already on the list that were to lagged to play Narc, Mortal Kombat II and NBA jam .
This mod is intended for advanced computer users who understand removal and installing of CPU’s to computer systems.
Install time 15 mins
Right let’s get started
Tools and components needed:
1 x Screw Driver
1 x Compatible CPU
1 x Thermal Grease
1 x Thermal Grease Cleaner
Tools pictured below.
Now you will need to disconnect all connections to your pcb
First of all make sure all power is disconnected from the machine.
Now disconnect the 20pin plug from the board as pictured below.
Then disconnect the additional 4 and 5 button plug
Before removal:
After removal:
Right now disconnect the jamma connection as pictured below.

After removal:
Now remove board from machine and take it to a worktop make sure it’s a dust free environment.
Before removing the top board from the system you will need to unplug all the top board conections i have pictured them all below there are 7 in total please make notes of were each one goes i have pictured below them plugged in and removed.
Before removal:
After Removal:
Now remove the ide cable and the 7 spacer leg screws from the top board you can now remove the top board safely.
Top Board removed:
Now unplug the heat sink fan from the pcb
Then press down on the heat sink release catches i used a screw driver to leaver them out.
Warning: You must be careful when doing this not to apply too much presure can lead to cracking the mother board, press down and leaver out the catch with a screwdriver.

Fig 2
Fig 3
Now install new cpu be careful not to touch the pins on the bottom the triangle on the chip will match to the triangle on the cpu holder when you have inserted the chip close the leaver to lock chip in place as show in fig 1/2/3 then us the Thermal Grease put a thin layer on the chip and spread it. Right now reinstall heat sink and reassemble all that you have removed power up and jobs done.
Now MK2 NBA Jam work Narc work perfectly will increes the perfomace of games on the system and will also alow you to add games that wouldent have run nice under the celeron 1.7 chip ie killer instinct 1 and 2 mk 1 mk 3.
if you have a chip tested thats not listed let us know so we can add it to the list.

Could I ask? If I use a P4 2.8Ghz 512 400 SL7EY cpu I can just use the original heatsink and fan from the xxxx in 1?
But if I use a P4 2.80GHz/1M/533 SL7E2 cpu I cannot use the original heatsink and fan and will need to buy a more powerful fan/heatsink?
Is that correct?, thanks for any help you can offer. |

you will need a bigger heatsink something like an intel prescott fan to cool the chip but that means you will have to raise the top board to fit the new fan in. The 2.8 512 i have installed is good and i am very happy with it. So in the end its upoto you the 2.8 512 stutters every now and then but it works very well. Let us know what you do and how you got on every little helps.
cheers |

yes the 512 can run off standard heat sink the 1meg will defently need a new heat sink as it runs alot hotter. _________________ Title:Website Admin / Development Team

I've upgraded my xxxx in 1 cpu to a P4 2.8Ghz 512 400 SL7EY and changed the 256meg memory stick to a 1 GB stick.
I also went into the bios to change the shared memory to 64MB. Everything seem to be working great apart from Mortal Kombat 2 now seems to be too fast. Which makes it very difficult to play in one player mode.
Where I really noticed it was when I died a screen came up asking if I want to insert coins to continue. That counts down from 10 super fast probably in 3 seconds.
Is there anything I can do to get it to play at the correct speed?
Thanks. |

That is really weird, I have almost the same setup, added the P4 2.8Ghz 533fsb & an extra 1gb of memory, all MK's run fine. I have my shared memory at 64mb as well. Only difference I see is the cpu. |

Looking into it more I think it might be running at the correct speed. But the Continue counting down fast seems to be one of my buttons sticking, combine that with me being rubbish on the game gave me the impression the game was running too fast.
Doh! |
